Transformation Award Apps Due MONDAY 4/9

This is super-short notice, but if you're in the Philly/Delaware Valley area, you should check this out. If you can't get it together to submit an application by Monday, there are award cycles for the Art and Change grant in June and October. Thanks to Walidah Imarisha for sharing this. --Susan

Hey folks,

This is a just a reminder that Leeway's Transformation Award applications
are due on Monday. Please tell any women and trans artists you know who are
eligible to please consider applying! The award is for folks who have been
doing art for social change work for the past 5 years or more and have an
ongoing commitment to do so. Take a look at some our past awardees from 2005
and 2006-- there's probably someone you know on the list! (Past awardees are
listed here: http://www.leeway.org/grantees.php?s1=1&s2=30)

Leeway funds a wide range of artists, from a wide range of experiences and
art forms. I know the concept of applying for a $15,000 award can be a bit
intimidating, but Leeway is definitely the one to try for if you or someone
you know is eligible. We are more than willing to answer any questions you
or others might have about the applications-- so please send them our way.

To make this process a bit less intimidating, please know that once we get
the applications in our office, we do an internal review to make sure every
application is complete and eligible. We follow up with applicants if there
are suggestions on how to improve their application prior to sending it to
the review panel. We work hard to give each applicant the best chance
possible at getting the award.

Here's a link for the application: http://www.leeway.org/applications.php
Please view the guidelines for more eligibility info.

In addition to the application, folks have to submit proof of residency (2
years of more) and proof that they're over 18. If you have any concerns
regarding this documentation, please let me know.

The applications are due by 5pm on Monday, April 9. You can drop
applications off at Leeway's office (or mail it here), Robin's Bookstore
(13th/Sansom), Philadelphia Folklore Project, or Taller Puertorriqueno.

Take Care!
