The Mom Egg 2008 Mother's Day Release Party and Reading

Run out of ideas for what to get mom this Mother's Day? Here’s something more interesting than a fancy dinner or glitzy Broadway show, and one guaranteed to keep both you and mom entertained! (And p.s. it's also FREE, but you don't have to tell mom that.)

Hip mom-writers will read at The Mom Egg Release Party, part of the popular Sunday Salon series at Stain Bar in Brooklyn on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11th,7-9 p.m. Stain bar is located at 766 Grand Street, one block west of the Grand Street L stop (718.387.7840/www.stainbar.com).

Readers include Joy Rose, Mamapalooza Festival founder and pink-haired lead singer from the band Housewives on Prozac, and Caribbean-American poet Cheryl Boyce Taylor. Other readers include Jen/ed, Alana Ruben Free, Puma Pearl, Marian St. Onge, Marjorie Tesser, Ella Veres, and Lisa Williams. Special musical guest, hip mom Julia P. Farrell, will perform as well.

The Mom Egg, edited by Alana Ruben Free and Marjorie Tesser, is an annual collection of writing and art by mothers. The Mom Egg’s sixth annual issue includes poetry, fiction, prose and art from a diverse group of 60 cutting edge mom writers and artists on a wide range of issues: assimilation, aging parents, sexual identification and breastfeeding, war, alienation, and poverty are among the subjects of this fascinating collection.
