Spoken Word Artists Wanted: What Would You Do as President?Forwarding on this interesting campaign to bring a little poetry into this frenetic election season ... What would you do as President? Now put that thought in poetic form! 247townhall.org, a unique civic engagement site, is searching for responsible poets from cities across the nation that are interested in participating in our Flip it Forward "If I were President" Campaign. As part of this campaign we will be asking you to do a spoken word performance saying what you would do if you were president. In addition to your performance, we are also asking that you film 10 people from your community saying what they would do as president. Concept: Spoken word poets, 247Townhall.org, and Flip camera combine to ask the underserved what they would do as president. Premise: Flip it Forward utilizes 247Townhall.org's website as the platform, and Flip Camera's cameras as eyes and ears to capture people all around the country presenting their faux presidential platforms. Here's how it unfolds... Ten small Flip Cameras will be shipped out of Portland to spoken word poets all across the country. Each of the local poets/reporters will use the cameras to film ten community activists or leaders from their neighborhood presenting their faux presidential platforms. Each poet will be given a week to collect these interviews and perform their "If I Were President" spoken word poetry. Once this is done, send the package (prepaid) back to the One-Economy office in Portland, Oregon. As soon as we receive your videos they will be downloaded to 247townhall.org, where they will be available for anyone to see. 247Townhall.org users will be encourage to post their own faux "If I Were President..." speech and/or create a Flip It Forward campaign with friends across the country. Please, let us know if there is any interest in your local community! Sincerely, Catlin Condit Reply |
