A hallmark public art initiative of chashama, the Windows program enlivens vacant storefronts with multi-disciplinary performances and visual installations. There’s no limit to what you can do in a window: Butoh dance, paint portraits, display visual art, modern dance, puppetry, the list is infinite! Performances and installations may be interactive, allowing audience members to creatively contribute to the work made and form a relationship with chashama artists. chashama is currently accepting applications for their window performance stage at 266 West 37th St – located on a highly visible Garment District block and fully equipped with theatrical sound and lighting. Entry deadline for both poetry and art for our HER MARK 2008 publication, exhibition and reading is February 28, 2007. All themes, styles and media are welcome. Selected artwork will be featured together with poetry in a color, spiral bound, appointment book with weekly calendar pages. Accepted artists will also be invited to exhibit the selected artwork at WMG during August 2007.
